Happy Birthday, Amy Marie (and Other News)

Today, Dan JR. and Laura's oldest daughter Amy Marie turned 3 years old. I hope that they had a nice quiet celebration. Their past parties were nice, but they must have worn Dan JR. and Laura out. Maybe, the next big party will be Emily's Second Birthday or her First Communion five years down the road.

In other news, I forgot to report that Dan SR. and Patty finally met Mandy's husband Paul. It almost happened at Emily's Baptism, but Paul was swamped with work at Mercedes Benz of North Olmsted, so he was unable to appear. For the record, he is now an insurance (claims?) adjuster. This occurred almost two months ago. I hope that he is having "fun" with his job.

Tomorrow, I return to my Census Taker job. I will have some new people to visit, but I don't know where yet. I hope that the person who has my old assignment attains the needed information. I had a contact, but the Census Bureau feared that she knew too much about the people in the building, but she made my job a whole lot easier. I am very grateful as a result.
My supervisors are very pleasant as well.

Until next time, stay safe as we have had a thunderstorm in Cleveland. The weather is expected to do more of the same overnight. Thankfully, I will be safe at home.

Kathleen's Birthday Lunch

This afternoon, we celebrated my sister Kathleen's 60th Birthday with a luncheon at Perkins on Tiedman Road in Brooklyn, OH. In addition to me and Kathleen, Bob, Tim, Lois, Joe, Maggie, Mike (Maggie's husband), Dan (SR and JR), Patty, Laura, Mandy, Paul, Amy Marie, and Emily attended. It was surely a "family affair".

It was originally a brunch, but some commitments led to the change in time. However, most of the people had breakfast items. However, Paul had a BLT, and I had a cheeseburger with Swiss Cheese, a side salad, and Coke. We all then had a delicious chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting (?) in the center which Patty made. Some people ordered ice cream, but I did not because it would have been too filling for lunchtime. In addition, Kathleen opened presents. We also sang "Happy Birthday". Dan Sr. then played his harmonica. He was disappointed that we didn't sing again. It was a nice event, although talking to all the guests was difficult in a tight space.

Towards the end of the party, Amy Marie was presented with gifts from those who brought them because she turns 3 on Memorial Day. Her party will be a scaled down affair. Any details will come from outside sources. This will be a busy week and a half, since there are two other birthdays that need to be mentioned.

Before I close, Kathleen took Bob and me to Dollar Tree on Brookpark Road in Brooklyn to buy some bottles of soda. They sell three-liter bottles for a dollar. It was crowded, but we accomplished our goal. She then took us to Honey Hut on State Road in Cleveland for ice cream, but Bob and I haven't eaten it yet because we were full (Bob had a sample of his at dinner tonight.). Frank Page's (The Founder of Honey Hut and my Godfather) son Bruce was there, so he threw some freebies in a bag for us, including the Flavor of the Day, which was blackberry. I'll let you know how the ice cream tasted in a future post. It was a day to remember.

Until my next report, enjoy a safe and fun Memorial Day Weekend.

Happy Anniversary, Dave and Amy

One year ago, my niece Amy married a man from Long Island named Dave. She met him when they were attending Stonehill College in Easton, MA. I met him at Marnie and Mike's Wedding in 2004, but I didn't really talk to him until Amy Marie's First Birthday Party in 2008. I last talked to him at Emily's Christening last Labor Day Weekend. I don't know him that well, but I am privileged that he is in our family.

Bob and I did not get Amy and Dave a Bob Evans Gift Card for their anniversary because the only Bob Evans in Massachusetts closed years ago. Yes, we could have bought them one to use when they were in Ohio or even Michigan, but I decided Applebee's was more appropriate for two young people without kids. They live in the Boston area, so chances are that there is one nearby. (I didn't do the official research.) I bought the card from a Rite Aid near my house since it was near my Census area. It was a good way to kill time before I took a short bus trip towards my house. I could have walked, but I get enough exercise at work. I do walk home most of the time because I am between buses when I am leaving my area after work. Also, I do get some exercise even when I take RTA because I have a short walk even after I get off the bus. Some details will follow eventually.

In closing, I would like to wish a belated anniversary to Amy's parents, Dan and Patty. It was on Cinco de Mayo, but I wasn't inspired to write my blog post until tonight. I hope that they enjoyed the Longhorn card that Bob picked out for them. Applebee's, Outback, Friday's, or even Chili's would have worked for me, but they were too risky for Bob. I do know that Longhorn in Leominster, Ma was the site for Patty's 50th Birthday Party a while back. I heard that it was a nice occasion. I stayed in Cleveland because too many people staying in the same house is not my idea of fun. I hope that this latest Longhorn experience is/was just as much fun as the one years ago.

Until next time, enjoy your life.
